Gracie

This is Gracie and she’s looking for her perfect family.

Gracie came into MAIN pretty broken. She was hit by a car and had a couple nasty breaks. In July 2021, Gracie was on her last day. She was set to be euthanized because her medical needs were far beyond the shelter resources and no rescue had stepped in. Unfortunately, our foster homes were full. More than full really. After an update about Gracie’s status to MAIN’s foster group, one of our amazing families opened their home, yet again, to another dog. We are so blessed with our foster families. Truly.

After months of care, spoiling and love, Gracie is ready. She wants a forever family. Gracie is a13 month old German Shepherd. She will play ball for as long as you will throw it. She loves her people and wants to be close and cuddle. Gracie is good with other dogs as long as there aren’t toys around. This girl hoards and resource guards her toys and needs some training with that. Also, she is definitely still a puppy and needs to continue learning manners. Like all puppies, Miss Gracie gets into things she isn’t supposed to. Gracie needs an owner who is willing to work with her on these behaviors. Here’s an additional cuteness fact of Gracie’s, she pays close attention to the refrigerator opening because she loves ice cubes and is afraid she might miss out.

Gracie has been spayed, microchipped, licensed with Maricopa County, and up to date on vaccines.

Please welcome Gracie to the MAIN family!

Gracie is a 7 month old German Shepherd puppy who found herself at the shelter after being hit by a car. We were keeping an eye on her and when her last day on the partner alert arrived…no other rescue had stepped up for her so here we are! One of our incredible foster families opened their home at the last minute so we were able to help Gracie. We can’t stress enough how important our foster families are to us! We’re so grateful for each and every one of them and we are always in need for more.

MEDICAL: Gracie has a comminuted fracture of her left mid-femur. She also has a fracture of the pelvis near the right hip joint. Since there is a concern of possible arthritis developing in her right hip in the future as a result of the pelvic fracture, she is not a good candidate for amputation of her left hind limb. Repair of the left hind limb fracture is recommended.

Our vet has reviewed the x-rays and examined Gracie. She’s the sweetest puppy! The fracture is much older than we originally thought, and not something she is able to repair. The vet has sent her x-rays and history out to some other surgeons to see who is willing to take on this repair. Of course we will do all we can to save her leg!

Gracie’s medical will not be cheap, but we were not going to let this beautiful puppy die for something that can be fixed!
