Peach

Guess who is looking for her forever home…Miss Peach.

Peach is still a puppy at 9 months old, and she’s a Golden Retriever/Shepherd mix. Peach has puppy energy and needs a family that is active and engaged. Peach needs long walks every day. Having a playful dog and or an owner who understands she needs lots of play and movement is a must. She’s super sweet, super smart, and super cute. She knows sit, come, go kitchen, no, down-sit and comes when called. She’s doggie door trained and asks to be let out if the door is closed; she is also kennel trained.

Peach is good with dogs of all sizes, cats and children. She’s a lovely dog, very gentle and may prefer having a doggie friend in her new home that matches her energy level. Peach is excited on a leash but after about half a mile she’s much better. She doesn’t react to other dogs or cats much when on a walk. Not much of a barker. She will yip or whine when she thinks she’s not getting enough attention.

Woo Hoo!! Happy dance!!

Peach Update.

This girl hasn’t let that broken jaw slow her down. She’s had limited play, goes for walks, and of course has been crazy spoiled by her foster people. Peach has been “fairly” easygoing with her broken jaw limitations and now she gets some super rewards for that.

She’s allowed to have some real kibble (gradually) mixed in with the mush she’s been having. Soon she’ll be completely away from the soft stuff. She can play with soft toys. She can play with her friends and enjoy a bit of wrestling. And…wait for it…SHE DOESN’T NEED HER MUZZLE ANYMORE! How cool is that? We’re so excited but Peach is by far the most excited of us all.

Today while she was at our partner vet, Bethany Animal Hospital, she got spayed. Not much of a celebration right? Peach will forget about that once she realizes that material thing on her snout is G O N E. Once this amazing girl is healed up from her spay, she’s ready for adoption.

From Peach’s foster mom: “Puppy Peach is just absolute sweetheart. She thinks she’s a lapdog and loves to be cuddled. She gets along great with our mini goldendoodle. We have a cat, she doesn’t seem to mind the cat, but they didn’t interact very much. Overall, Peach is incredibly friendly and will make a great family dog.”

Likes:

-Petting/being brushed
-Walks
-Playing with other dogs
-ANY treat/bone, she’s not a picky eater at all

Dislikes:

-Runners
-Owners leaving, she will sit by the exact door you walked out of and patiently wait.
-Vacuums

Things to know:

-She is able to jump on tables. Do not leave any food out.
-She is crate trained at night.
-She’s a fast eater. You’ll need a slow feeding bowl.

It’ll only take a couple weeks for Peach to be fully healed and available for adoption. If you’re her perfect family, would like to meet her, or have any questions about this special girl email medicalanimalsinneed@gmail.com

Peach is 6 months old, about 37 pounds, spayed, up-to-date with vaccines, has a microchip, is licensed through Maricopa County, and ready to find her permanent family.

Please welcome Peach to the MAIN family!

Peach is a 4 month old female Golden/German Shepherd mix that was surrendered to the shelter in Pinal County. It was suspected that she had been hit by a car. She had a bloody mouth and labored breathing… We saw the plea and one of our awesome volunteers immediately offered to hop in her car and make the trip to pick Peach up.

Our vet determined that she (thankfully!!) had no internal injuries. What she did have though was a broken jaw. We sense a theme here and we don’t like it. Too many broken jaws with no obvious signs of how it happened…..

Well Peach now has a new life and a new name and she is no longer just a number. The trusty muzzle it is, to keep the fracture stable! We’ll keep you posted as we get updates on her progress.
