Bonnie

Bonnie is ready to adopt her perfect family! Could that be you?

Bonnie is an 11-month-old Collie mix who loves to play.

This girl enjoys other dogs regardless of size. She will try to play rough and keep up with big dogs when they are playing. She loves to run, chase and tumble with other dogs. Bonnie needs a place to get out her energy. The dog park isn’t a good place for that because being able to monitor her activity level is important since she doesn’t realize she still needs to take breaks to rest her healing leg. However,owHol when she’s told it’s time for a break, she will gladly go in her kennel to lay down for a while.

It would be a huge plus for Bonnie to have another dog in the house that is playful. In addition to Miss Bonnie loving to run and play, she is also quite the cuddler and loves to lay as close to you as she possibly can. She loves having her face and nose rubbed. She is a barker but her foster mom (who is also a trainer) is teaching Bonnie the ‘quiet’ command.

Bonnie hasn’t had any experience walking on a leash and since she is still healing there’s no way to work with her on that. Bonnie is great with kids seven and older. She’s anxious with children younger than that. We don’t know for certain how Bonnie is with cats, but we’ve decided that she should not be around them. And a total bonus with this girl is that she doesn’t shed! They don’t get more perfect than Bonnie.

Meet Bonnie.

Bonnie is a 6 month old Collie mix who found herself at the shelter after being hit by a car. She is so sweet, and eager for attention despite her pain.

X-rays reveal that she has several major injuries to her bones, in addition to all of the soft tissue injuries.

*LF HUMERUS: pet has a closed comminuted diaphyseal spiral fracture of left humerus

*PELVIS: left pubis fracture.

*L FEMUR: proximal femoral capital physis fracture with greater trochanter avulsion and significant displacement.

Bonnie was wearing a collar and tags with owner information, but when her family came in they sadly had to surrender her to the shelter due to the extent of her injuries. She will require at least two surgeries to repair the fractures, and will have a long post op recovery for both.

We picked her up from the shelter and she will have her first surgery on the broken front leg immediately.
