Who remembers this super cutie? This is Beignet; he joined MAIN just about a year ago when he was going to be euthanized. He could barely stand and he’d basically walk in circles. When Beignet came into rescue, our partner vet fostered him so she could watch how Beignet reacted to things in his environment. Dr. Andre also began testing so she could determine what exactly this little guy had going on.
Beignet went through testing and rounds of steroids among other things. Now? He gets around well with way less neurological issues. Beignet can still have relapses occur but they are less often. This kid is as cute in person as he is in these pictures.

Puppy. Cute. Happy. Small. Brown. Frenchie. Sweet. Neurological. Spinal. Male. Saved. Rescued. Ataxic. All of those words describe the newest life saved by M.A.I.N. Let me introduce you to Beignet.
Beignet was very close to being euthanized, when a fellow rescuer stopped the owners from doing so. They weren’t being cruel but Beignet needs help and they weren’t able to get it for him. The rescuer contacted M.A.I.N. and Beignet is now part of the M.A.I.N. family. He has begun his foster life with our partner vet, Dr. Katie Andre, as that helps Dr. Andre see how Beignet reacts to things in his environment, what his motor skills are like, and she gets some puppy time too. She’ll also be able to observe any obvious neurological or spinal problems. Dr. Andre has also begun testing so she can determine what exactly this little guy has going on.
As with all the animals we save, costs add up quickly and for Beignet, testing will be extensive and costly. He will likely require an MRI which costs about $3500 even with a generous rescue discount.
