Miles

Meet Miles! This sweetheart came into the shelter as a stray, and even though a chip was found, his owner never came for him. Due to his medical issues, as soon as his hold was up, he was put on the euthanasia list. When the shelters are full, dogs like Miles don’t always make it out alive. Enter MAIN, and an amazing foster home, and the story has a different ending for Miles….

When Miles came to MAIN he appeared to be blind, had muscle atrophy of his skull, his right eye was bulging out and he had some kind of issue with his jaw. The shelter wasn’t able to fully examine his mouth because he cried out every time his mouth was touched. So Miles went to our partner vets at Bethany Animal Hospital and they began tests. In the meantime, Miles’s temperature spiked, he wasn’t eating or drinking, and he was very lethargic. Miles’s x-rays and blood work reveled he has Valley Fever. Due to the Valley Fever not being treated for so long by his former owners, Miles developed lesions that have been eating away at the bones in his head. The blindness, loss of eye sight, bulging eye and him not being able to open his jaw much, was all due to the Valley Fever. Miles started medication and it calmed all those lesions down and Miles has his sight back! His Valley Fever is being managed wonderfully! This boy is resilient and healthy and looking to adopt his own family.
