Meet Sparky.

Sparky7Sparky was surrendered to the county pound with a broken leg and severely injured and infected left eye.

This poor young pup’s left eye is completely bulging out of it’s socket and will require removal.

Abandoned, injured, alone…what chance did Sparky have of being adopted in this condition?

It’s taken Sparky the first three months of his life to finally find a safe, loving home and we are so happy M.A.I.N. and a wonderful foster family are able to provide that for him!

Sparky is safe and will receive the medical care he requires and all the TLC he could want, but we need help with  his medical bills.

Please click the PayPal link at the bottom of the page to donate to his medical care. Thank you!

Sparky’s Updates:

Sparky has been adopted! Congrats to Sparky and his fur-ever family!

Isabella and Winston! From Sparky’s foster family: Sparky is doing great! His eye is completely healed and his leg/paw is completely re-habbed. He has been medically cleared for adoption and will receive his final puppy vaccine. He is super soft and we love his floppy little ears. He has the cutest wrinkles on his forehead that emphasize his expressions. Sparky is a perfect balance of silly puppy and calm. He loves to play with his 8 furry housemates including Gracie the cat, and his human brother and sister. I think his racing around the backyard with the others has definitely helped him rehab his little leg so quickly.

He is also super smart – quickly learning “sit” and “off” and is a great student at Puppy Classes! He LOVES to give kisses to EVERYONE which on occasion will get him a verbal scolding from his furry friends, especially grandma dog Mocha! He is particularly attached to his 11m old Chihuahua mix foster sister, Missy. They love to race and wrestle. He will sleep in a crate or playpen but would prefer to be with his human. He will let you know when he needs to go out to potty. He is a master at the doggy door, sometimes dashing in and out just because he can. Sparky also loves to nap – on his back! Paws up!! Or you can find him snuggled up next to Missy or Gracie.

He rarely barks – only if he wants your attention or has to go potty. Then you get to hear his Beagle bark! He likes car rides and does well on a leash. He’s even walked on a double leash with his buddy Webster. He is good with kids of all ages. He is a love-bug!

_MG_5135A note on Sparky from his foster family, July 8th: Sparky is such a sweet pup! He loves to be loved and give kisses. He is getting stronger everyday and is almost full weight-bearing on his foot. He runs and plays with the pack like a typical, slightly uncoordinated puppy. He loves all his fur-baby friends including Gracie the cat – although his kitty love can be a bit overwhelming to Gracie and may be how his eye was originally injured. His cute little face has healed nicely and the hair is nearly grown back – even his little eyebrow hairs! He sleeps all night in his crate and lets us know when he needs to go potty. He’s also mastered the doggy door and has learned the command “sit.” He’s a very smart boy!

Update on Sparky, June 29th: Webster and Sparky came home from BAH today…wait for it…without a muzzle and without a splint (respectively). WOO HOO. Able to resume all puppy activities. Sparky is in “pedal to the meta” play mode!

Update on Sparky, June 19th: Mr. Sparky was sneaky and figured out during the night how to maneuver the cone so he could nibble on the end of his splint/cast. So we got to see Dr. Miller and friends yesterday! A new splint and SURPRISE -eye sutures out! We will go back in two weeks for an x-ray and likely the splint will come off for good- woohoo!

From Sparky’s foster family, June 10th: It’s a big day for Sparky! He will have his eye removed today, his cast changed, and neutered. He has a few rough days ahead but still so much better than where he’s been. Looking forward to see this little guy at 100%! Good luck Sparky! We love you and will be impatiently waiting.

Sparky stopped by for a special photo shoot at Don’s house- we tell ya, this pup can’t take a bad photo! What a cutie!
