Nikki has found her forever family!
Happy Saturday from Nikki! She saw Dr. Katie to get an update on the status of her leg. She’s standing on it in this picture and she walks on it. This girl is a doll. She loves all her people) Loves dogs of all sizes and kitties. She is a snuggler but also happily plays on her own. She’s a squeaky toy lover! House trained and is content and calm in the playpen. (When our playful energetic husky is in the room we kennel her to keep a safe space for her and her leg)
Meet Nikki!
Nikki is a 2 year old Shih Tzu/ Lhasa Apso Mix.
Nikki was hit by a car in a PetSmart parking lot and caught by a Good Samaritan. Her “owner” went to get his car and never came back. Nikki was taken to Blue Pearl emergency hospital and then transferred to AHS. Enter MAIN….
Nikki has a fracture through part of her left scapula (the caudal glenoid cavity/infraglenoid tubercle) with severe caudal displacement. Due to the severity of the displacement and involvement of the shoulder joint, she may have to have her leg amputated. We are consulting with a couple of surgeons to see if there is any way to save her leg. The fracture won’t be easy to repair – if that is even an option. Either way, we’ve got you, sweet girl!
Nikki also has a minor pelvic fracture that is expected to heal well with time and activity restrictions as well as a broken tooth that will be extracted at the time of her spay surgery.
