Frankie

Frankie has found his forever family and we are so excited!

This amazing boy has gone through so much to get to this point. His foster momma has nursed him through his stitches, infections, surgeries, and horrifically matted fur that caused even more problems for this sweet boy. Our foster parents are incredible.

Frankie’s intake post from the Pinal County shelter said Frankie had a “severe” heart murmur. Thankfully, that’s not the case. He does have a murmur but it’s minimal. No medication, no limitations. It doesn’t affect him at all. That’s exciting news. Additionally, Frankie has had multiple surgeries to get him back to par, and he’s done wonderfully.

I can keep telling you about fantastic Frankie. However, his foster mom gave us an update that sums this boy up perfectly. “He just got professionally groomed on Friday and looks adorable. He is about 20 lbs. now. He is potty trained and sleeps through the night. His happiest parts of the day are his breakfast and dinner. He loves his nightly walks with his (2) sisters. He is amazing during his baths. He is very patient and understanding to his blind sister that sometimes steps on him. He gets along great with other dogs but does tend to be shy with them. I have yet to hear him bark. He isn’t high energy but more of a couch potato. Can be left alone in the house unsupervised and does not destroy or chew anything. I ordered him some Christmas collars once I get them in, I will send more pics of him.” (Obviously, Frankie is enjoying the spoiling he so deserves.)

Frankie has been neutered, microchipped, licensed with Maricopa County, and up to date on vaccines.

Meet Frankie. He’s a 5 year old miniature poodle, weighs 18 pounds and is sweet as can be. MAIN got a call from Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson. They had a boy who had a lot going on and they didn’t have the resources to help him. Within an hour, one of MAIN’s incredible fosters offered to make the 4 hour, 250 mile round trip to pick Frankie up and bring him to Phoenix. To say that Frankie has had a rough time lately is an understatement.

A Good Samaritan found Frankie and took him to the shelter. The medical team at the Tucson shelter did exams, bloodwork, and x-rays for Frankie and what a mess they found. Here’s the list…Frankie has a significant heart murmur, little use of his tongue but can swallow and eat fine, a mass (thought to be a lipoma) on his chest/breast area, numerous puncture wounds on his head his throat and face from being attacked, severe swelling and large abscesses on his throat and side of his head that are overflowing with infectious puss, his entire body was mud and matted to the skin. Additionally, the injury on his face/head is infested with maggots. This poor boy fits right into MAIN’s Hot Mess category.

Frankie has had a bath and been groomed a bit. He’s settled in his foster home being sufficiently spoiled, loved and being introduced to his new world as a MAIN boy.
