Maggie

~Here we go again with our favorite word~

A-D-O-P-T-E-D

Miss Maggie. This girl has had a long road trying to find her perfect person. She has had people take her home only to bring her back because she didn’t fit their expectations. Why? We have no idea. She is sweet, calm, rarely barks and is happy to just be with her person. She does well with other dogs and simply wanted a person to love her. Sounds pretty easy right? We agree.

Maggie has been in our rescue for close to a year and she’s healed and happy. She’s come out of her shell and just wants to be loved. She was looking for a home with someone who would adjust life for her needs and not expect her to adjust for theirs. Well, she found that person! And you won’t guess where this perfect mom was so I’m going to tell you; she’s a foster mom here with MAIN.

Congratulations to Miss Maggie and her new mom Patti.

Maggie with her new mom Patti

This girl is almost ready for adoption!

Maggie is very sweet and loving and she’s a quiet girl; she seldom barks. Her foster mom describes her as a “gentle spirit.” Maggie is happy to sleep in her kennel or with her person. This quite little peanut has to have her kennel clamped shut if her foster mom isn’t home because she becomes a bit of a Houdini and escapes from the crate.

Maggie is two and weighs in at 7 pounds. She’s on treatment for valley fever and she’ll be spayed on March 31st. After she heals, she’ll be ready to find her perfect home.

Maggie will be spayed, microchipped, licensed with Maricopa County, and up-to-date on vaccines.

Original Post: Meet Maggie. This little girl is a Chihuahua mix and so very cute. She’s two years old and weighs in at 6 pounds. Maggie was taken to the shelter as a stray dog and the shelter vets believe she’s been hit by a car. These are the medical notes from the shelter doc: Pet came in for suspected head trauma. Suspect hit by care. She has a head tilt, occasional tremors and ataxia (impaired balance/coordination). She has tested positive for tick fever and valley fever. She is currently on fluconazole and doxycycline. Due to neurologic signs she would do better managed outside of shelter.

Right now Miss Maggie is in one of our amazing (the only kind we have) foster homes. Maggie has seen our partner vet at Bethany Animal Hospital and she’s being treated for the Tick Fever and Valley Fever. She’s had a neuro exam and the vet is not yet certain of the cause of the neurological behaviors. She’s had what is believed to be a seizure which can be caused by the two fevers she has. It’s always tricky to determine causes of neurological activity. Right now she’s being monitored closely and her foster mom will record any out of the ordinary activity.

What we know for sure is that Maggie is a fantastic girl. Her mom told us that this girl is so happy and loving. She’s house trained and rarely barks. She loves other dogs and tolerates the cat in the house.
