HowieMeet Howie.

We were contacted by the Humane Society to help Howie who was brought in to the shelter as a stray with some neurological issues.

Poor Howie constantly shakes and trembles and even falls when he walks. The shelter initially thought Howie had a seizure disorder and immediately started him on seizure medication. However, when there was no improvement, it became apparent something else was going on…

We have taken Howie to our partner vet already and they believe he has what is known as “Shaker Syndrome” Now we know you’re thinking “is that real?!”- we thought so too!

Not only is it real, it’s a serious inflammation of the part of the brain that causes balance and coordination. The cause of this disorder is often unknown. We are hoping to see improvement after treatment with steroids and will keep everyone updated on Howie’s progress.

Please, if you are able, donate to Howie’s medical care chip in fund via PayPal below. Thank you!

Howie’s Updates:

Howie has been adopted! Congrats to Howie and his furever family!

From Howie’s foster family: Howie is a young, active dog. He loves to play with his foster siblings and toys. He has a great personality and gets along with everyone. He sleeps on the bed with all of us. I’ve never kenneled him because he used the doggy door as soon as he came home with me. He is a little scared at first when someone approaches but quickly makes up to them if they extend their hand so he can smell them. He is a barker, I’m not going to lie, because potential adopters need to know but all I say to him is “Howie go outside” (calmly). He immediately stops barking and goes in my bedroom and jumps on the bed. It is quite comical to watch! He is an all around great, friendly dog!
