Hamilton

Meet Hamilton. He’s the, so very handsome, boy that recently became a member of the MAIN family. Hamilton is 2 years old, thought to be a Welsh Corgi mix, and weighs 28 pounds. He arrived at the shelter as a stray dog with some medical needs. And he sure does have medical needs but that’s why he’s a MAIN boy now. We’ll get him fixed up.

Hamilton has some fractured teeth and a fracture of his left distal humerus or in regular people terms, his front left leg is fractured badly. The humerus fracture extends into the elbow joint. The humerus is the long bone of the forearm that works with the scapula to form the shoulder, while also helping to form the elbow. Can you say OUCH? It’s possible that Hamilton’s fracture will heal with crate rest and immobilization but, there is also the unfortunate possibility that he could need to have that leg amputated. This is a wait and see situation.

Right now Hamilton is hanging out with his new friends (quietly) at his wonderful foster home. His foster mom told us that he’s doing great, he eats like a vacuum, he’s getting along well with Snappy (one of his foster siblings), and that Snappy is making sure Hamilton understands who is in charge. Also, he’s super smart but his mom hasn’t decided if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Sometimes these kids are too smart! She also added that he is, of course, so cute and loving.

We realize we’ve asked for donations several times in the last week and that we sound like a broken record. I promise, it gets old for us too. However, as you can see we’ve brought four dogs in within the last five weeks and we have several others still under medical treatment so the bills have added up and continue to be added to the pile. We truly appreciate all of you for your sharing of posts and donations. It’s all needed and we thank you for your help and for understanding the cost of saving these medical needs kids.
