BUBS WANTS A FAMILY!
Bubs is a 1-year-old, short-haired chihuahua mix. He’s a peanut at only 7 lbs. He’s house trained with a dog door or will use puppy pads inside, but he definitely prefers going outside. This boy really likes car rides and playing with his friends. He loves his humans, is very much a lap dog, and he wants to be wherever you are at all times. We call that, being a Velcro dog. Bubs started his rescue life with a broken jaw (which has healed) and had two infected teeth pulled (he’s healed from that too). Bubs will never be allowed to have hard bones or solid toys, but he’s allowed to have soft toys, which he loves.
Bubs’ foster mom is teaching him some commands (and puppy manners). Bubs will sit for 20 seconds for treats, he’s learning what “off” means and knows to come when he’s called by name. They’re working on some leash training and Bubs is figuring out the fun game of fetch. This boy has learned the command “no bark” and will stop on command. He prefers to sleep in bed with his human. Little Bubs does have some separation anxiety with whining and barking when he’s home alone. His foster mom is working with him on crate training though so that might help with that anxiety.
Bubs would like a home with a small yard and a buddy to play with. He hasn’t been around kids but is gentle. He’s good with the small dogs and with the gentle cat in his foster home. A note from his foster mom, “[He’s] not destructive unless you leave a tissue out.” Typical puppy behavior, right?

Welcome Bubs
This is Bubs; the sweetest 9-month-old Chihuahua boy. This little guy found himself alone, broken, and on a very short timeline at the shelter. You see, when a dog is found and turned into the shelter, there’s a mandatory hold period for each dog. That gives owners a chance to claim the dog. However, when a dog is surrendered by its owner, there isn’t a hold period, for obvious reasons. That’s the situation this boy found himself in when his owners surrendered him to the shelter.
The reason Bubs had a short timeline was because he has injuries that are beyond the resources of the shelter. Those injuries happened when he got mauled by his K9 brother in their own home. He sustained puncture wounds, a fractured shoulder, and a broken jaw. Poor little Bubs was down to his last possible day at the shelter when MAIN was notified and now, he’s our newest MAIN kid.
Bubs has an appointment scheduled with our vet to determine a treatment plan to get this boy healed up. His recovery won’t be easy and will take a lot of time but he’s in one of our amazing foster homes and already onto a new life and our beautiful angel, Dr. Katie Andre, is watching over him. Welcome to the MAIN family, we’ve got you covered little Bubs.
We need your help. As with all our dogs, Bubs’ injuries are serious, and getting him better will be expensive. If you’re able to help with his medical that’d be terrific and greatly appreciated.
