Meet Webster.

While the M.A.I.N. team was at county evaluating another dog, they were asked to take a look at a tiny Chihuahua with a broken jaw. County had sedated and x-rayed this little guy, confirming two relatively new fractures on both sides of the lower jaw.

Upon first meeting this cutie, it was obvious he was scared and horribly thin; who knows how long he has gone without a gentle touch, a warm bed and consistent meals? After awhile resting in a volunteer’s arms, Webster stopped shaking and seemed to enjoy being held and pet- it was as if he knew something GOOD was finally happening!

Webster’s condition broke our heart and of course we couldn’t leave him behind! So Webster will start his new life as part of the M.A.I.N. family. Please share his story and donate to his medical care if you are able, by clicking the PayPal link at the bottom of the page. Thank You!

Webster’s Updates:

Webster has officially been adopted by his foster family, who says he is a perfect fit for their house. Congrats to Webster and his fur-ever family!

Update from Webster’s foster family, June 28th: Webster and Sparky came home from BAH today…wait for it…without a muzzle and without a splint (respectively). WOO HOO. Able to resume all puppy activities. Webster gets more than slop for the first time in over a month- Bring on the solid food!

Update on Webster, June 21st: It’s a big day for Webster! We dropped him off at BAH for his follow-up X-rays! Hoping he comes home without a muzzle. He gained 3/4 lb, so that’s a total of 1.5lbs so far! He is such a loving boy. He’s started giving kisses which is new for him. His buddy Miko is going to miss him today – we ALL are!

From Webster’s foster family, June 1st: Webster is slowly starting to trust and come out of his shell. His tail is tucked less and wagging more. He loves to snuggle, be between your feet at all times, and check out the baseball scores with Dad. He’s eaten and retained two feelings today and had a treat of peanut butter from mom’s finger. Yum!

From Webster’s foster family, May 30th: Webster will have surgery to repair his broken jaw tomorrow. Steve and I went to visit him and once he curled up into my lap, we could not leave him behind for the night…so home he came! He ate a bowl of gruel/slop, got a bath, and actually snuggled and gave me kisses. His tail is tucked so far under him you can barely tell he has one, but for a bit it was actually up and happily wagging. He is nothing but skin and bones – ribs, spine, hip bones, pelvis. Only weighing 5lbs, he’s nearly half his goal weight. He is now in a sweater and is tucked into a snuggle sack sound asleep.
