This is Stormy. She’s a Toy Poodle around 1 year old and, obviously, too cute for words. She loves hanging with her foster mom and K9 brothers. She plays well with all humans and animals she meets; no matter size or age. She’s all about sunning herself and being at the foster mom’s feet so she doesn’t miss out on anything. Stormy’s kicked back and loving. Sweet and kind. There’s one thing that Stormy does that is NOT nice; she absolutely will NOT look at a camera! Every time it’s picture time she looks away or looks down (as you can see in her photos). So we don’t have great pictures of this girl but even in bad photos, you can see what a total cutie she is.

Now for the big medical words and condition. Stormy has Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH); a condition that causes part of her cerebellum to be underdeveloped. Things like nutrition, infection, and genetics can cause the disorder. Since Stormy is new to the M.A.I.N. family, we can’t say what the cause is but we’re OK with that. What matters now is her having the wonderful life that she deserves.
Some symptoms of Cerebellar Hypoplasia are head bobbing, tremors, and falling. Affected dogs can’t move normally, especially when it comes to maintaining normal balance, posture, and coordination. There are varying degrees and every case is different. The condition is not painful or contagious. Stormy doesn’t know that she’s different from a dog without CH. Stormy will need some extra attention in some situations. For instance, being around an unfenced pool, unsupervised, is not an option for her. Climbing, such as stairs, cannot be permitted. Allowing freedom in some places, such as the park, has to be prevented.
Let’s get back to the fun stuff now. Stormy has been spayed, has all her shots, is microchipped, and got a complete dental. The best detail here is that she’s now adoptable!
