Yesterday, M.A.I.N. received word that there was a 3 month old male German Shepherd Mix puppy with Strangles at the East Valley Shelter… We had our first Strangles case several years ago with an adorable pup named Toby, when the staff told us how rare “Puppy Strangles” (aka:  juvenile cellulitis) was. Since then, we’ve had several patients with this disorder, so to us – it isn’t rare at all – and the puppies afflicted typically respond well to medication and go on to enjoy puppydom.

Let’s hope that Flynn follows in the footsteps of some of our past Strangles puppies like Connor, Sadie, Toby, Ellie, Boomer, Cricket, Kane and most recently, Peanut and Ferris.

We will keep you updated. In the meantime, if you would like to support the work we do, maybe send us a couple bucks? We would be so appreciative!

Update September 26th 2017:

FLYNN UPDATE: He just got back from the amazing BAH where they determined he is not 12 weeks old. They are guessing “10 weeks at the most.” Which Kim had determined yesterday because he “smells” younger. I can attest that she is not crazy; at least in this instance 😂. As soon as I held him I knew she was right. He is now on Augmentin, his steroid dose was lowered, and he got a mani-pedi 🐾🐾 because he has black nails and I refuse to cut those. He has a follow-up appointment on Oct 11th. That is all for now 💜

Will someone please explain to Flynn that waking the house mother every 45-60 minutes throughout the dark hours is not a great way for her to start the day. She’s very crabby when that happens. Oh, and please tell him that giving him a 3 feet tall xpen wasn’t a challenge to see if he could scale it. Nor was the 4 feet one and certainly not the 5 feet one as that is last and tallest one. Please DON’T tell him that the house dad is getting the big crate out! 😂🐾😂

Update September 30th 2017:

So we’ve come to realize some things about Flynn. Either he
1. Has a great sense of humor albeit a bit twisted OR
2. He’s already being rebellious when we leave him home OR
3. Both
And you can bet this picture will be on my blog soon
🐾😂🐾😂🐾

Update October 6th 2017:

🐾💜 Oh Flynn 💜🐾
It is just not easy being this handsome.

There’s less swelling but he is still ichy. He has some small bath mats to scratch his little muzzle on. He really wants to use the rocks in the yard to do it but the foster mom says, “Uh No!”

  1. she’s a great fetcher – loves to play ball – LOVES to talk to us ALL day long – and she loves her “Chi Chi” papa Stevenish Jekel who spoils the dickens out of her. Plus she helps keeps the ‘senior’ dogs on their toes 🙂 We just love her.

  2. OMG…..*cracking up* so hard choked myself. What a GREAT pup and thank you little guy for the HUGE laugh and had to share with all our doggy loving friends too

  3. We had one rule of house training puppies in our house, and I am sure my life was in danger with my husband and daughter!
    Rule 1:
IF THE PUPPY VOIDS IN THE HOUSE, IT IS YOUR FAULT, NOT HIS/HERS.
Did the puppy just wake up? Take the puppy outside!
Did the puppy just stop playing?
    Take the puppy outside!
Did the puppy just eat or drink?
    Take the puppy out!
Did the puppy start whining, for any reason?
    Take the puppy out!
    Questions?
    Refer to rule one!

  4. And (particularly with Hubble and Bella) who adhered to this very closely, with a dedication that rivals the USPS? That’s right… neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays Little Momma and her puppies from the swift completion of their appointed rounds! ❤
