Dolly

Dolly Update: Little Miss Dolly is doing great. She’s healing well. She does lift her back leg when she runs but that’s to be expected with the injuries she sustained. It doesn’t mean she’s in pain; it’s just more comfortable for her at this point. That may change for her. What we often see with our healed up, broken leg kids, is that they continue to lift the leg when they run. It’s another bit of character added to them.

Dolly is about 2 years old and a tiny peanut at only 7 pounds. Her foster mom told us that “she’s a little nut; a remarkably well behaved little nut.” It is so funny to see the personalities come out in our foster kids. Dolly is great with kids and loves to hang out with them. She’s potty trained. Two quirks of Dolly’s are spinning in circles for fun and doing bunny hops when she runs. She does get along well with other dogs and will often try to steal things from them when she believes they aren’t looking. She’s kennel trained and although that back leg is still in the, getting stronger phase, she jumps on the sofa with no problem. Her foster mom told us that Dolly will bark at times but, as soon as she’s told to stop, she does. She’s content to cuddle and to simply be your shadow.

Dolly came to MAIN in terrible condition after being hit by a car. She’s been through a lot; having had two casts for most of her recovery. No matter what though, she’s been super sweet right from the beginning. She’s ready to move to the next phase in her little life and that is, finding the perfect family for her to adopt.

If you’d like to know more about Dolly or to meet her please fill out our adoption application or contact us at medicalanimalsinneed@gmail.com. Dolly’s adoption fee is $250, which includes spay, vaccines, license, and microchip.

Please welcome Dolly to the MAIN family! Dolly is a 2 year old Chihuahua mix who has some pretty serious fractures.

The doctor’s notes say that Dolly was owner surrendered in the field. She was possibly hit by a car (HBC) and her owner thought her left front leg (LFL) was broken. They tried to help her by splinting and wrapping it but the leg/s need much more attention. She is limping on her LFL but non weight bearing (NWB) on her left rear leg (LRL). There are wounds to both left legs. Lacerations to the front left and right rear leg, abdominal bruising and chaffing. Per field, she recently had a litter of puppies 8 weeks ago.

Now for the huge words and the technical deets of her x-rays:

Left lateral calneal base triangular fracture with minimal caudolateral displacement. Right proximal ulna diaphyseal butterfly greenstick fracture with minimal craniodistal displacement.

* Ulcerated ventrum
* Pyrexia-r/o infection from ventrum, pain, other inflammatory

Prognosis:
Guarded – 2 limbs affected

ALL of that to say that Dolly is a hot mess!! We’ll get her feeling better again and get those fractures fixed up and on her way to living her best life. She’s a tiny girl at just 7 lbs.

Tonight she’s out of the shelter and all settled into her amazing foster home, a home that has lots of experience with our hot messes.
