Meet Venicia.
Venicia was left tied to a tree by a park/canal area with no food or water…carelessly abandoned to a fate unknown. Her right rear leg is injured and swollen and there is an open wound that is currently filled with dirt. County started treatment of Venecia’s injuries, but this sweet girl needed another outlet with the time to see Venecia’s treatment through to the end. Through all of her injuries, she is a very sweet girl and has plenty of tail wags and kisses for everyone she meets.
Medical notes from county: “Right hind food is quite swollen but appears no fractures. Severe ligature type wounds (probable cause of the swelling) within the dermis around the ventral neck.”
Venicia’s Updates:
After three years in foster (yes, THREE years!) Venicia has officially been adopted by her foster mom! This comes as no surprise to us, because it’s obvious Venicia is already right where she belongs. Congrats!
From Venicia’s foster mom: Venicia is house-trained, but only in eight to nine hour stretches. She’s about 12-15 months old. She is best without cats but will tolerate them with supervision. She needs older kids who can handle her energy. Knows sit and wait. Loves loves loves belly rubs and giving kisses. She is good with other dogs but some older dogs may not appreciate her energy. Yes, she does calm down and when she does, the princess prefers pillows. She still chews, but if given good chew toys she won’t destroy too much – maybe a sock.
Update on Venicia, May 6th:
From Venicia’s foster mom, April 21st: I call her “Neci” for short; she is doing fabulous! Whenever I’m with her, which is 90% of the time, her e-collar is off -she’s so busy exploring and snuggling she doesn’t chew at all! I can tell there is some discomfort as she ocassionally will hold her leg up. Her sisters are another story and intros are purposely going slow. “Neci” would love nothing more than to play with them, because she is a lover like that. We did discover cats are not welcome, however! Miss Neci is taking her meds with no issue and we’re back to the animal hospital for a recheck Monday afternoon. Such a sweet, sweet pile of energy and love!
Venicia and her foster brother Chopper stopped by for our holiday photo shoot. These two are ADORABLE!
Thanks for helping Venicia – and ALL the many others that you continue to help. Donated
Thanks for supporting us Carolyn! We will keep everyone posted on Venicia’s progress. 😀
Thanks so much Carolyn – we appreciate all you do for the animals. Venecia is doing well in her foster home. Not sure she realizes she has a bum leg – hard to keep that girl still! She's such a fun dog. ♥ Kelly
