Meet Miss Squirt. She is 8 years old and as you can see, super cute. She is a buffet of dog breeds so we will just say, she’s a mix of sorts. Squirt came to M.A.I.N. from the euthanasia list at the shelter. She was suffering from quite a large hernia and several mammary tumors and needed medical attention beyond the scope of the shelter. When Squirt went to her foster home, it was determined that she had blood in her urine. Obviously, this was no average hernia; it was an emergency. One of our vets saw her and told us what we were pretty sure we already knew; Squirts hernia was strangulated. Also, her intestines were almost completely packed in the large stomach pouch she had. Squirt had emergency surgery soon thereafter.
That wasn’t all Squirt had going on. She also had many mammary tumors that needed attention. She had a complete chain of lumps and needed all of them removed as well as some on the other side. Squirt had this surgery on her right side ten days ago and we are waiting for her to heal a bit more and she’ll go back to the vet to have the other lumps checked. This little sweetie is a hot mess.
We need help from our M.A.I.N. family. As you can imagine, Squirt’s bills have already begun to add up to quite a bit and we’re only halfway there.
