Meet Sofia.
This adorable Min-Pin mix was rescued from the county shelter after her former owners surrendered her for “cost” As you can see in the pictures, Sofia has a huge tumor covering the side of her face. We don’t know the details of this tumor (cancerous or not) until our partner vet surgically removes it and sends the sample off to a pathologist.
Sofia gave us quite a scare a few days after rescue when she had a seizure in the middle of the night and was rushed to the emergency vet. Thankfully, her condition is stable now and her preliminary bloodwork is all normal. We will be scheduling Sofia for surgery soon to remove that huge tumor and we can’t wait to see the “after” pictures!
Despite her condition, six year old Sofia is a happy dog and loves everyone she meets. We are sure she’s going to feel amazing once that tumor is gone! As always, we will keep everyone updated with Sofia’s progress and diagnosis. Please, if you are able, donate to her medical care chip in fund via PayPal below. Thank You!
Sofia’s Updates:
Sofia has been adopted! Congrats to Sofia and her new furever dad!
From Sofia’s foster family, Sept. 20th: Little Sofia has been seizure free for over 2 months! Today we are celebrating her good health & cheering for the AZ Cardinals. She’s also down to 12lbs. thanks to exercise & weight management food. This sweet girl would love nothing more than to be your little buddy & loves to snuggle by your side.
Sofia’s Bio: “Wow! How do you like me NOW? I had a huge bump on my beautiful little face (yep, I’m a petite, little thing). I swear that bump was bigger than me. No one wanted me because I looked so icky. Lucky for me, I was taken in by the wonderful M.A.I.N family who fixed me right up. Bump gone. All healed. Ready to go. And nothing wrong with the bump, so I’m in perfect health! I’ve blossomed since my surgery. I’m a really happy pup and love everyone I meet. I’m not really a puppy, but about six years old, so I’m mellow. I love curling up with you for a cuddle and then a nap. I do like other dogs, especially ones around my size. I pretty much love all humans, even little ones. I would be so honored and thankful to have a home of my own. I pay attention to commands, know my potty training and promise I will be a great new addition to your family. Having that big, old bump off my face has given me a second lease on life. I’d love to spend it with you. Come and see me anytime!”
Update March 2015: Sofia has had successful surgery to remove her facial tumor! The best news? Her tumor was benign!! Sofia is a happy, friendly dog and is loving life now that that huge tumor is gone.
