Meet Rose! Rose was rescued from county after staff called M.A.I.N. pleading for us to help…she is severely emaciated and in horrible physical condition.

Rosie’s initial bloodwork and xrays looked normal, so the veterinarians at Bethany Animal Hospital believe this is a case of starvation. Her loving foster family will help her gain weight and get healthy for her fur-ever family!

Rose’s Updates:

Rose has officially been adopted by her foster dad! We are SO happy for Rose and her new family! Congrats!

RoseadoptA letter from Rose’s foster dad (now fur-ever dad):I so respect the work that your organization does. I wish I could do more to help. Unfortunately, it turns out I am not a very good dog foster parent…. After having Rose for some time now, I do not think I would be able to see her go to another home. I just don’t think any other place would be good enough for her. I know that is probably not true, but I’m pretty sure that is how most people feel about someone who has become part of their family. So, if is okay with you I would like to adopt Rose and make her a permanent member of my family… Please let me know what I need to do to make this happen.”

A note from Rose’s foster mom: We think she is two years old and she now weighs 54 pounds. She is housebroken and doggy door trained. She sits on command and is slowly learning her name. She sleeps through the night and will wake you up if she needs to go out. She loves people- everybody gets a butt wiggle and sloppy kiss. She gets along with dogs; we don’t have cats or kids, but she is very strong. She walks well on the leash. She loves affection and if you let her, she will kiss you and kiss you and kiss you! She is up to date on shots, is spayed and had her teeth cleaned.

Update, Nov. 4th: Well she just gets better every day! She loves people. We try to take her with us when we go to the store or the park. Everybody gets a butt wiggle. We still have a few spots on her skin that need clearing up from her scratching, but its much better. She manages to take apart even the strongest of toys; we went from having two baskets of toys to 1/4 basket. She is a very happy pup!

Update, Nov. 10th: Rosie was a big hit at the Wag and tag at the Goodyear Dog Park! She even got a pink heart name tag! Everybody just loved her and she loved every person, every dog and every kid. This girl has a lot of love to give!

Rose1Update, Oct. 18th: Friday Rose goes in for a check up and to get spayed. With any luck she will be all set to go to the next adoption event! She is strong and playful but my dogs don’t really want to play with her. So as soon as she gets the clear we can take her to the dog park to run this new found energy off. She eats and sleeps and plays like a happy healthy girl!

Update, Sept. 27th: Rose went to BAH for some shots and a checkup and to figure out what to do with her itch. She is 44 pounds, a full coat of hair and looking good. She still has a slight cough so she is on antibiotics still and some steroids for her itch, as well as a special bath and diet.

Update, Sept. 21st: Rose gained eight pounds this week and three pounds last week- that makes eleven pounds in less then two weeks. She now sorta knows her name and walks excellent on the leash. She is my shadow and goes where I go. She is still working on the dog door. She sleeps through the night and waits until morning to go potty outside. Her favorite toys are still her ball and the garden hose when the water is on. She is going to be a fantastic best friend; what a sweet girl!

rose7Update, Sept. 13th: What a great day Rose had today! She went to BAH today to see all the great people who have helped her in her journey. She was so happy to greet and kiss everyone. She gained three pounds and is doing great. She got new medications for her cough. Rosie loves car rides and is such a good girl in the car. She came home, had lunch, played a little and is now sleeping with her ball and blanket. Such a sweet girl. Oh and she got a mani and a pedi. Looking good!

Update, Sept. 9th: Rosie has had a good morning. Up since six, had a little food, drank water, peed, chased flies and paced the yard. We think she is getting a cold or possible kennel cough. She has a little discharge out of her nose, and a slight cough. She definitely needs a bath, but I think we will wait a couple of days, so she can get used to everything.

Update from Rose’s foster family, Sept. 8th: She has eaten twice tonight since 5:30, and is now sleeping very comfortably with a blanket keeping her warm.

Rose stopped in at Don’s house for a photo shoot! This beautiful, energetic girl has SUCH a great smile!

  1. You do wonderful work. For sure, if you could see what I see, you have angel wings.

  2. I remember Rose! I remember, in the video, the smile on her face as she got into the car just before leaving the shelter. She was pulling on that leash, like, let's get outta here! She knew. Thank you once again, M.A.I.N.
