Update – Pip is perfect! He is up to 2.8 pounds now! The vet says that, mentally, Pip is a slow developer; but he is hitting all of milestones and that’s what matters. He needs one last set of vaccines and then will get neutered 2 weeks after that. Here’s some new pictures of this little peanut. The photo with the blanket is the look Pip’s foster mom gets when she doesn’t let him out to play as quickly as he’d like. This boy couldn’t be cuter!
If you’d like to know more about Pip or meet him please fill out our adoption application or contact us at medicalanimalsinneed@gmail.com.
Friends, please welcome Pip to the MAIN family. Pip is a 6 week old Chihuahua puppy who currently weighs just 1.26 lbs.
Pip was brought to an emergency animal clinic by a good samaritan. He was lateral and twitching, and had low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) which is very dangerous to one so small. He responded to fluids and dextrose so was transferred to AHS.
He has a large domed head with an open fontanel. He is presently eating on his own but does occasionally head bob after eating, which may be secondary to hypoglycemia. We have to consider the possibility of a liver shunt or hydrocephalus so today we began testing and bloodwork. His foster family will be closely monitoring his attitude and appetite. We will keep you posted as we learn more.
As you’ll see in Pip’s story, he’s got a lot of medical needs. That means we need your help; we could really use your donations. No amount is too small. 100 % of every dollar goes right to the dogs’ medical needs. Thank you for your support!
