From the shelter:

This dog is Phillip and he is 26 lbs of lover boy, not an old dog, and was probably hit by a car. He’s a stray, and came in unable to walk. But he is now up on all four with a limp on right rear leg. I have a set of x-rays to send along with him. The vet told me the hip is dislocated and probably/might need surgery to get it back in place. He is a super sweet dog, not an old one, and needs some help.

Sweet Schnauzer mix in Yuma needs a foster. I was hoping they had found another placement for him since he’s so gorgeous but the shelter just contacted me and they have not. I did send the x-rays to Dr. Katie and she said we may be able to heal it with crate rest but potentially he would require an FHO down the road. She said it’s virtually impossible to get the hip back into joint and have it stay unless it’s immediately after injury.

Update June 16th 2017:

He knows how to sit and stay but it needs to be something really good for him to actually stay. He seems to be potty trained…cries at the door when he wants out. I left him for about 1.5 hours in a large metal kennel and he didn’t destroy the blanket and seemed to sleep the whole time. I wish they could tell us what happened to them. It seems like he was someone’s beloved pet.

Update June 18th 2017:

Last night I played in a concert so Phillip had to go in his kennel while I was gone. When I got home I spent some quality time with all of the furries before bed. He wasn’t happy when it was bedtime and he had to go back in his kennel but he did it for a treat. So I’m in bed and a few minutes later my cat, Toni, finds one of her mousies and starts singing the song of her people. She does this every night right after I go to bed. Phillip starts barking and that evolved into full on howling like a coyote. I just laying there thinking “seriously” and my dog Essie, who is a very rare, usually completely silent chihuahua mix starts barking at him as if to tell him “hey we don’t do that here” but then she starts howling too. So now I’ve got two howling, one really low pitched and one really high. The cat that was with me in the bedroom dove under the covers. The whole thing was crazy and I couldn’t help but laugh. Luckily it only lasted for about five minutes and we all calmed down and went to sleep.

Update June 23rd 2017:

Good morning from Prince Phillip, or maybe Dr. Phil because you can’t be depressed with this happy guy around!! Lol – He gets along here so well you’d think he’s been here longer. Such a great dog.
