Meet Noel! Noel was pulled from the county pound emotionally shut down and in horrible physical condition…

Many times we don’t know the background of the dogs we save….we know Noel’s story. She was an owner surrender after a family member took her from an abusive, neglectful situation & brought her to the shelter. She is a rack of bones, shut down & afraid. We plan to change all that!

From Noel’s foster mom, Dec. 14th: It took her all of five minutes to cling to my side. She actively seeks affection and attention, but it takes a minute to warm up to new people. What a doll! Given Noel’s “Temperament -Human” label at county I expected her to be slow to warm up…I’m so glad I was wrong! Initial labs indicate this is a straightforward case of starvation and neglect.

Noel’s Updates:

Noel has officially been adopted by her foster family! We can’t think of a better home for her- congrats to the happy new family!

Noel is home!Update from Noel, Feb. 5th: Hi Everyone! Just wanted to update you all on how I’ve been doing lately… I’m still a stinker who has to be around someone ALL of the time! Mom thinks my leg has been hurting me a little more lately because I’ve started to change how I sit a bit. Once the bones in my ankle fuse together I will lose the ability to bend it. So, I’m just practicing sitting on my side from time to time. Mom tells me I look like a little lady! I’ve been getting along with my foster brother, Tank even more and now that mom’s in-laws are in town I get to play with their dog, Nahla! Nahla likes to run and play but everyone shouts at me to cut it out! Oh! And I’ve learned how to open doors too! I break into the cats bedroom and eat all her food. MMMmm Mmm!! So yummy!

Update, Jan. 2nd: Noel had a check-up yesterday. She has a mild case of kennel cough that was caught early on. She is on an antibiotic for the next week and she will go in for another check up next week, Tuesday. The PAWsome news is that she’s currently 43lbs and she started out at 36.6lbs. That’s a gain of 6.4lbs!

Noel sits like a ladyJanuary 1st 2013: Noel is starting off the new year with her very own Facebook page! Friend her at “Noel’s Journey” on Facebook!

Update Dec. 22nd: Noel gained five pounds during her first week in foster! She gets along great with her foster doggy sibling and has even started to play a little fetch!

From Noel’s foster mom, Dec. 16th: Noel is doing AMAZING! It is becoming obvious that Noel was once a cared for pet. She knows what the leash means and did great on her short walks, loves toys, hops right up onto the couch and bed and even seems to be potty trained! She sleeps through the night (in bed with us) and goes outside as soon as we get up. This is sad and happy for me, as she was obviously taken care of at some stage before she was neglected and abused. She has some resource guarding over food with the other pets, but that is understandable in her current condition. She eats and drinks so well; we’re already seeing less ribs on her! She is also a complete love bug! She follows my boyfriend and I everywhere and snuggles up whenever we sit down. I will keep everyone posted on her progress!

Noel is one of the most photogenic pups we have! Check out her St. Patty’s Day photo shoot pictures!

  1. Watching Noel brought tears to my eyes. She looked so lost and didn’t even want to make eye contact with you at first. My heart ached for her and all the other lost souls. But after reading your last post I know she will make it and shine and be the beautiful dog she once was. Thank you for all you have done for her and others. Look forward to seeing new posts and pictures of her.

  2. Thank you Donna- very nicely put! We are honored to have the privilege of helping Noel along her journey to health and happiness! We can’t wait to post some “then & now” pics of this beautiful girl. 🙂

  3. We think so too, Swanie! Kate (Jessie’s foster mom) swears they are sisters… We’ll try an introduction with these two at some point and see if we can’t get some video of the possible reunion! Wouldn’t that be something?? Thanks for the support, Don

  4. Couldn’t help myself – donated a bit more for Noel.
Merry Christmas Noel – I’m happy to know that you and Jessie are in a warm loving place this Christmas. I’ll bet you are sisters – the resemblance is remarkable.

Regards from my 11 very spoiled dogs – they were happy to give up their X-Mas goodies so I could donate some more for you guys.
