Meet Leeta.

Leeta is a young dog, but is in such bad shape, she looks worse than many senior dogs. How long was this sweet girl neglected to end up this way?

Leeta was scheduled to be euthanized at the county pound with a horrible case of Demodectic Mange. Luckily, M.A.I.N. and a wonderful foster have stepped up to give this pup a second chance at life!

Though we know Leeta must be miserable, she hasn’t lost her happy disposition. She’s full of tail wags and kisses and loves other dogs and people. We think that’s pretty special!

It’s as if Leeta knows it’s all going to be okay now.

Please share Leeta’s pictures and story, and if able, donate to her medical care chip in fund by clicking the Pay Pal link at the bottom of the page. We desperately need donations to be able to continue saving dogs just like Leeta.

Thank You!

Leeta’s Updates:

Leeta has been adopted! Congrats to Leeta and her new fur-ever family, which includes a furry sibling and a little girl to grow up with. Have a happy life, Leeta!

Leeta's furever familyA note from Leeta’s foster mom: There are so many good qualities about Leeta! She wiggles when she walks, she does not run a lot so I think she would enjoy a more laid-back family. She does enjoy walks but would love to come home and snuggle up afterwards and just be loved. I think she would enjoy having a sibling or at least kids around to play with her. Leeta has a grumpy dog look but she is a happy little girl and when she smiles it lights up the room. She has been around cats but needs some supervision. She is good around the house and has not been crate trained but I think she would be OK if she had to be in one. It does take Leeta a little time to warm up to dogs she does not know but once she is comfortable with them she loves to play.

From Leeta’s foster mom, Sept. 25th: She is doing wonderful- very sweet and smart. She is pretty good with the kitties, but Ebony likes to chase them and Leeta thinks it is fun to do the same, so I am working on her. She walks well on a leash and gets along with most other dogs. She is good about getting her nails and teeth cleaned. Good with kids and just loves to be around people.

Leeta's grumpy faceFrom Leeta’s foster mom, July 28th: Little Miss Ears loves to eat and sleep and get belly rubs She carries and hides stuff all over the house. Most of the time she is all tail/butt wagging. Or she just sits and watches what’s going on.

Leeta’s medical update, July 23rd: Turns out Leeta is WAY older than 10 weeks – more like seven to eight months! She has all her adult teeth in already. So, she needs a Heartworm test before we can start the Ivermectin for the Mange, since she is well over six months. We are waiting on the results of all the bloodwork.
