Meet Jake.
When the shelter contacted us to help Jake, we couldn’t say no. This poor guy was surrendered to the shelter by his former owner who stated he had been hit by a car three days prior and was taken to the vet where they were told he had some damage to his spine and would need surgery.
Jake does not fully bear weight on his right hind leg although he can move it around a bit when he’s sitting. We will be taking Jake to our partner vet for xrays and full evaluation and will let everyone know what his diagnosis is.
For now, Jake is safe in a foster home; his foster mom says, “It’s obvious he has something really wrong with his hip-pelvis area. He’s very wobbly. Very sweet and just wants to hang with us.”
Please, if you are able, donate to Jake’s medical care chip in fund via PayPal below. The dogs only have us and we only have you. Thank You!
Jake’s Updates:
Jake has been adopted! Congrats to Jake and his new furever family!
From Jake’s foster family, July 2015: Jake has done well so far! He mostly shows no interest in any of our dogs or cats but he did play with a friend’s dog who we are dog sitting. Last night they chased each other around the yard, full speed with Jake in the lead! My husband said “look at that for a dog who had a fractured pelvis!” Jake mostly wants to be where we are. Even when our Dachshund was being her ugly self to him, he didn’t even react. My husband is also starting on some basic commands with him like “sit.”
From Jake’s foster mom, June 2015: Jake has a loving disposition and is learning to share and have fun with other dogs. He is mostly on crate rest for his injuries but is doing well overall!
