Meet Harrison.

Brought in as a stray, Harrison’s jaw is broken along with his spirit.

He was scheduled to be euthanized this morning because of his injuries, but M.A.I.N. stepped in and now he’s the newest member of our growing family!

Medical Update on Harrison, April 18th: Harrison can go to foster tomorrow. The vets have determined there is no acute fracture; there is a bony mass on the left side of Harrison’s jaw and they will re-evaluate next week once the radiologist officially reads his xrays. For now, Harrison is not in any pain and is a very bright and happy puppy.

Harrison’s Updates:

Harrison has been adopted! His furever mom has been following his story from the beginning and he is finally well enough to go home with her. Congrats to the new family!

Harrison's furever momMedical Update on Harrison from Dr. Miller: Biopsy of the head mass – Chronic, proliferative and fibrosing, inflammation with osseous metaplasia. In English: he had some trauma, possibly a ruptured tooth root abscess, that caused an excessive reaction in the bone with crazy bony proliferation. It’s benign, but will never go back to “normal,” which is OK because it is not causing problems and he’s so darn cute this way!

Update from Harrison’s foster family, May 28th: We went on our fist walk this evening! Harrison is so cute! Finally got his last set of booster shots and the Dr said he can go for walks close to home, but no parks yet. He really did great on the leash thanks to his big brother Eli teaching him all things. He is almost medically cleared to go to his fur-ever home! Next week neutering then good to go.

Update on Harrison, April 28th: Harrison is doing fantastic today! He’s acting like a three month old pup, running and jumping and biting the other dogs. So glad he’s feeling MUCH better! His swelling has gone down a bunch too. I think he’s on the road to recovery! He’s such a love bug and very entertaining! Will keep you all updated…

Update on Harrison, April 27th from his foster mom: Harrison went to the vet yesterday due to the side of his face getting bigger. He reminded me of a hamster I once had that stored all his food in his cheeks. Dr. Katie is stumped- she doesn’t think it is associated with the jaw fracture and we  ran blood tests and cultures. Pending the results, we can treat it better. For now, he’s on antibiotics and pain medications. He was really not feeling good last night at all- he was lathargic and in a lot of pain, but this morning he’s running around again. I think what ever it is started draining since there was a little blood on his bed where he sleeps and an odor. His future mom comes over almost everyday and loves on him; he is going to be one spoiled little boy, but he deserves it! I’m so glad she loves him because I’m not sure if I could let him go!

From Harrison’s foster mom, April 20th: It looks like Harrison may have had a prior broken jaw from a dog bite; the x rays will be read by a radiologist, then the vets will determine the best treatment. For now, he’s in no pain and eats normally. We should know something next week. Our pack has accepted the ‘lil guy, no problem! M. A.I.N. alumni, Eli (and our adopted dog) can’t wait to play with him- Eli is doing GREAT with him so far!

  1. Oh no, how could you leave that other sweet puppy behind? I have donated money to M.A.I.N. I love what you do, but I’m so upset right now that you couldn’t save them both!

  2. Harrison is doing well in his foster home and full of energy. We are waiting on the official radiologist read of his xrays so we have a more clear picture of what his diagnosis is. In the meantime, he is playing like a typical puppy and does not appear to be in any pain. Keep checking his page for pics/updates! 🙂

  3. Hi there – the other little puppy in the video was adopted as soon as he came off stray hold. ♥

  4. The other dog was small and a cute breed that had great chance of being adopted.
