Meet Gidget.
At just two years old, we aren’t sure what Gidget’s life must have been up to this point. She was already spayed when she came in to the shelter, which means she was either someone’s dog or had been in a shelter before. But no one came looking for Gidget in her hour of need…
Gidget has a horrible infection on her neck and drainage from her eyes. Her neck is oozing, raw and bleeding in parts. She has been confirmed for Demodex Mange, but our vet thinks the mange is secondary to damage from her neck from something far worse…
We believe Gidget actually had a collar stuck in her mouth and around her neck at some point. The wound around her neck is consistent with embedded collar injuries we’ve seen in the past.
In addition to her neck wound and mange, initial bloodwork is back and Gidget has test positive for Tick Fever. We have started this sweet girl on medications right away and she will be recovering in a wonderful foster home.
Gidget has a long road ahead of her, but we will be with her ever step of the way. Please, if you are able, donate to Gidget’s medical care chip in fund via PayPal below. The dogs only have us and we only have you- Thank You!
Gidget’s Updates:
Gidget has officially been adopted by her foster mom! Congrats, Gidget!
Update April 2015: Gidget had a negative skin scrape! The vet thinks she may have a food allergy, so we are starting her on special food.
