Meet Dixie.
Dixie is a stray that was wandering around the streets of Yuma before she was brought into the shelter. Dixie appears to have an injury in her hip- she can put a little weight on the area, but when she walks or runs, she kicks it outward.
Dixie appears to have adjusted to this injury however, and so we think it is an old fracture. Despite her circumstances, she gets around well and has a happy disposition!
The problem with Dixie is that she is not adoptable from the shelter without further vet evaluation and care. Dixie needed an outlet and so M.A.I.N. answered the call!
Medical Update on Dixie, Aug. 12th: Unfortunately Dixie’s injury is very old and she is not eligible for surgery as the bones have already re-fused. This is not slowing her down in any way and she is not in pain. She does have a skin issue and will be on antibiotics.
Please, if you are able, consider a donation to Dixie’s medical fund via PayPal link below. The dogs only have us and we only have you! Thank You!
Dixie’s Updates:
Dixie has been adopted! Congrats to Dixie and her amazing new fur-ever home!
From Dixie’s foster mom: Dixie is an 8 yr old Shih Tzu/Pekingese mix. She has a very old injury to her back leg, but neither this, nor her age slow her down. She is one of the sweetest girls I have ever met with a great temperament and she gets along great with dogs and cats. She loves hugs and belly rubs!
From Dixie’s foster mom, August: Unfortunately, Dixie’s injury is very old and she cannot have surgery. I will say this is not slowing her down in any way and she is not in pain. She does have a weird skin thing going on, but I have antibiotics that should clear this up. She is also extremely sweet!
