Meet Dakota.
Dakota is a three month old Cairn Terrier mix who needed our help! At three months old, this puppy shouldn’t have a care in the world- she should be running around in a loving home with tons of toys and playtime.
But poor Dakota somehow ended up at the county shelter and worse yet, she was diagnosed with sarcoptic mange. Sarcoptic mange is the contagious form of mange, in which mites burrow under the skin causing severe itching and discomfort. If left untreated for too long, this condition progresses to hair loss and bleeding from where the dogs scratch themselves in an effort to cease the relentless itching.
Lucky for Dakota, her mange was caught fairly early and we have taken her in to our rescue. Dakota will recover from mange in a loving foster home until she is medically cleared to find fur-ever!
