UPDATE – Cosmo is doing great! He continues to perfect his manners. His foster mom told us recently that Cosmo is working on being a foster fail. Meaning, he may never leave his foster home. We’ll keep you posted on that situation.
Meet handsome Cosmo. He’s the Cattle Dog Mix boy that has stolen so many hearts during his time with MAIN. Cosmo had a very large, painful hernia when he was dropped at the shelter by his owner. MAIN was quickly contacted and Cosmo’s diagnosis and treatment began immediately. Cosmo had surgery to repair an extensive perineal hernia. The surgery was quite involved but everything went well. After surgery though, poor Cosmo had what his foster mom called, “bark poops,” (so funny). That caused the surgeon to wonder if Cosmo might end up incontinent. Thankfully, he isn’t and he’s actually 100% healthy!
Cosmo is 4 1/2 years old, incredibly smart, loves a schedule and consistency, isn’t a fan of small yappy dogs, but, he’ll makes friendly overtures with dogs his size (as long as they don’t yap). Cosmo needs a family that has experience with the extreme intelligence and bit of stubbornness that the Cattle Dog breed tends to have. We’ve learned that Cosmo is picky about the children he likes; so, a home without children is preferred, but certainly not mandatory. Cosmo loves his crate and he’s housebroken. He gets along with his foster mom’s chickens and goats, but he isn’t thrilled with the cat that teases him. He can be very good on the leash, but he can be reactive as well. He is good in the house. He chews on bones but is not destructive and he’s learning how to play. Cosmo is a fabulous companion and he’s ready to move forward in his search for his perfect family.
