Meet Chiquito.
Poor Chiquito was surrendered to the county shelter when his former owner said that his landlord no longer allowed pets. Per his former owner, Chiquito has always been hairless and had no medical problems.
Chiquito was scheduled for neuter surgery and to go to the shelter’s offsite adoption location, but unfortunately while under anesthesia, the shelter vets discovered what they believed to be an old fracture of his jaw.
How does a five pound dog break his jaw? We don’t like to think of the possibilities… 🙁
Unfortunately, Chiquito was no longer adoptable because of this condition and needed a rescue to make it out of the shelter. A wonderful foster home stepped up for Chiquito and we will be getting him to our partner vet ASAP to see what we can do for his broken jaw and if he has any other health problems.
As always, we will keep everyone updated on Chiquito’s diagnosis and progress! Please, if you are able, donate to his medical care via PayPal below. Every little bit counts. Thank You!
Chiquito’s Updates:
Chiquito’s has been adopted! Congrats to Chiquito and his new forever family!
From Chiquito’s foster family, March 2016: Chiquito has been medically cleared to be adopted! This little guy deserves a very loving family that will enjoy his kisses and his need to be near a human at all times. He is precious and we have been so pleased to have him as our foster dog.
From Chiquito’s foster family, Jan. 2016: He’s seriously so ugly he’s cute!! And he has a great personality! We went to the dog park where he had a blast, came back in and ate a little, and he’s been sound asleep, sans trying to wake up to follow me around (though not always succeeding), since. I don’t think I’ve ever had a dog be so thankful to be in a home. He just exudes gratitude and tries so incredibly hard to be good, even braving the stairs when we go outside with his defective little back, hips, and legs. Someone is going to be very blessed with the “ugliest” baby ever!
