CharlotteMeet Charlotte! This 3 month old puppy was brought in with a broken jaw and swollen right side of her face.

Further x-rays at Bethany Animal Hospital show at least 6 skull fractures.

She’ll need to have surgery on her jaw as soon as antibiotics reduce the risk of infection.

Until then, she’s on injectable pain meds and wearing a muzzle which enables her to eat gruel and drink water.

Despite the obvious pain she is in, Charlotte is alert, curious, eating gruel and generally wagging her tail!

Charlotte’s Updates:

Charlotte’s jaw has healed and she has found her fur-ever home! Congrats to Charlotte and her new family!

CHARLOTTEADOPTFrom Charlotte’s foster family, April 26th: Great news! Charlotte’s jaw is healed and the pin was removed- no more muzzle! Her spay surgery went very well. She is now home resting. What a doll!

From Charlotte’s foster, April 23rd: Charlotte is the biggest cuddle bug. When I got home from the grocery, I sat down to give her a hug because she was “talking” and she wrapped her little paws around my neck and gave me a big hug! She was kissing me through the little space on her muzzle. Somebody is going to be so LUCKY to have her be a part of their family! She does really well with her mask; barks, talks, eats, drinks and gives kisses. She really has adapted. She is so sweet that she is making lemonade out of lemons. She is always waging her tail!

From  Charlotte’s foster family, March 26th: Charlotte is a very sweet girl who loves to give kisses and is full of tail wags.  She seems to be partially housebroken. She stands by the door and gives a little cry to go out. She likes to go on walks and really likes other dogs.  She’s met a few in the neighborhood and is always friendly.  So far she’s pretty mellow for a young pup, and likes her naps with foster sister Izzy. She seems like she’s interested in playing with some toys, but hasn’t quite figured it out with her muzzle on, and she’s being watched very carefully.  She has a great appetite and has adjusted well to eating with her muzzle.  She has a follow up in two weeks to see how she is healing.

  2. We are not entirely sure what happened to her, Susan. The source that brought her to the shelter said she was hit by a car. That’s the scenario we’d like to think caused her injuries…
