Meet Cassidy! Cassidy was rescued from the county pound with a horrible wound on his side and a leg injury.

Medical Update Sept. 14th: After evaluation at Bethany Animal Hospital, it is believed Cassidy’s injuries were caused from being hit by a car. The wound on his side is healing nicely on it’s own. He had surgery on his leg today to try and repair the break but the vets were not able to save his leg. This little sweetheart has been living with the use of only three legs for a while so he will adjust just fine to life as a triPAWd.

Cassidy’s Updates:

Cassidy has officially been adopted by his foster family! We are so happy for him AND M.A.I.N. alumni, Skipper who is his fur-ever brother! Congrats!

A note from Cassidy’s foster mom: Loves, loves treats and takes them so gently from your hand. Likes car rides – he sits quietly and looks out the window. Likes my 3 lb Yorkie – tolerates the rest of the pack, but is much better with one on one (has played chase with three of the dogs). Follows me from room to room, he likes to be near his person – does not need to be on your lap, just likes to be close. Loves to “bury” his rawhide bones under the covers – when in the house (he has a large stash!!). He has one toy that he plays with (a stuffed yellow smiley with rope arms) – it too is included in his bone stash. Being a triPAWd pup has not slowed him down one bit – can run and jump. Does NOT dig, chew on things he is not supposed to. He truly loves me – he is so happy to see me in the morning or when I come home from running errands, that his tail wagging has flipped him to his side!!

Things we are working on: Dog door training, being more people friendly (does not like children), being more dog friendly (does not like big dogs).

From Cassidy’s foster mom, Sept. 29th: What a day! Stitches, staples and cone removed! I found out today Cassidy is blind in his smaller eye. These things don’t slow him down though; he’s incredibly athletic. He leapt the baby gate when I took my other dog for a run!

TriPAWd CassidyUpdate Sept. 19th: Just a quick update on Cassidy’s progress. He watched TV with me (we stacked pillows and blankets on the floor as I do not want to lift him with his amputation being so fresh). I think this might be the first time he had seen a TV – he stared and stared and kept turning his head. He is getting around really well – he can even “motor quickly” for a short distance! Today he jumped up on the couch all by himself; he is really becoming a very agile triPAWd. Oh, and he loves, loves, loves treats!!!

Update from Cassidy’s foster mom, Sept. 17th: Cassidy has not stopped wagging his tail since he got here! He hopped over (he is a triPAWd) and gave me kisses. What a sweetie! He showed all this affection and still has to be in pain – his leg was amputated Friday and he has a hematoma from neutering (poor fella is sore on both ends).
