Meet Bitsy.
A contact of ours was volunteering at the shelter when she walked by this little girl. At first glance, she thought the dog had a t-shirt on- when she looked closer, she realized that she actually had huge patches of fur missing and bloody scabs…
Bitsy had been brought in to the shelter as a stray only hours before our contact saw her. She immediately took some pictures and called us for help!
Unsurprisingly, Bitsy has tested positive for Demodex Mange. We are waiting for her blood work to come back to make sure she does not also have a secondary infection.
Bitsy is estimated at approximately one and a half years old and weighs just four pounds.
Bitsy will recover in a loving foster home with medications, special baths for mange, and of course, all the TLC a four pound Chihuahua could ask for! Her foster mom already says she is “totally sweet and gives lots of kisses.”
We will keep everyone up to date as Bitsy heals. Please, if you are able, donate to her medical care chip in fund via PayPal below. Thank You!
Bitsy’s Udates:
Bitsy has officially been adopted! Congrats to Bitsy and her new fur-ever home! That didn’t take long! 😉
Update March 2015: Bitsy had her first skin scrape today. Her skin is so much better, and she is growing some new fur. We are hoping that at her next skin scrape in a month, she can be cleared for spay and listed for adoption.
From Bitsy’s foster mom, Feb. 2015: Bitsy has gained a few ounces. This sweetheart so far is housebroken and some of the scabs are starting to heal/fall off. She is totally sweet and gives lots of kisses!
