Meet our latest rescue, Bella.

Bella is a 5 year old Yorkie/Cairn Terrier mix rescued from the County shelter. Sweet Bella is healing from the injuries she sustained in an attack by what we suspect was another dog. She came in covered in bite wounds and unable to fully bear weight on one of her rear legs.

Bella is safely settled into her foster home while we work out a plan for her care. She’s smart and she’s a doll.

She’s been dieting to regain her girlish figure, and next Monday is spay day! She will also be getting a MUCH needed dental. No more yuck mouth. She will be available for adoption very soon. 💜

Update November 23rd:

Bella made it to surgery today. We had to muzzle her for transfer but with in 3 mins Zach had her in his arms and muzzle off carrying her around. Good news she has lost 0.9 lbs for a dog who cannot eat hard food or walk very far I am pleased.

Update November 25th:

Bella is actually sleeping for the first time since surgery. Thank you BAH and Dr B for calling in New pain meds. She ate a big bowl of chicken and rice when she would not eat at all this am. Bella loves food and I knew something was up when she would not eat.

Update December 1st:

Bella had a really rough night pacing all night between 2 kennels and my bed. She is literally shaking non stop tried to do a video but hard to see. She is going to vet tomorrow at 330. I think she is in pain just not sure where. Her mouth is better because after eating a full bowl of soft food she ate some of teddys hard puppy food.

Update December 3rd:

Bella says hello all I had a really good night and got pain medication at 5 pm and midnight with food which I love. Shaking gone and I slept well. So gonna see the vet for more pain meds I think. Now if I could just get that lady to feed me again.

Update December 11th:

From Bella:

Hey there world, I’m Bella and I’m five years young! I’m not going to try and snow you, life, up until this point, has not been a bowl of cherries. I’m a little gal and before the nice folks at M.A.I.N. took me in, I’d been beaten up by a bigger pup. Thankfully all my wounds have healed and in the process I got all fixed up including a visit to the dentist. So my breathe is now delightful (well, it’s doggy breathe, so maybe delightful is too strong a word…) Honestly, after all I’ve been through I’m finally learning to trust. But it does take some time. I find that I warm up to humans who at first ignore me. Guess that gives me time to scope them out and see who really does like me. For now I’m learning to be obedient (yep, I’m even going to school for that!). I have my little kennel which I love (it’s my own personal safety valve) and believe it or not I’m on doggy Weight Watchers. I guess all that junk food I was eating on the street didn’t help my figure, but I’m eating a healthy diet now. Who know vegetables tasted so good. I do love my doggy friends (as long as they are not too dominant) and have met plenty of them here at my fab fosters house and at the dog park, where I love to run around and play. And guess what? All that playing is helping me slim down too! I bet I will have the perfect figure in no time. And did I tell you how much I love my humans? They are the best and I treat them right. No accidents in the house for this girl! So, I’m gonna be honest, like all of you out there, I’m not perfect, but I am working on it. Just waiting for the right family to help make that happen. Love you all — Bella

Update December 19th:

Update March 10th:

This is a first Bella laying on my lap chilling willingly.

Update August 1st:

Bella let me pet and give her a massage with belly rub for 30 mins this am on my bed. She has come so far from the gal who did not like to be petted. She still is independent and wants attention on her terms but I like the sassy attitude.

Update August 1st:

Bella likes the new toy. Great way to give her dinner. Excuse puppy he came to my lap next to chew on a toy.

Update August 20th 2017:

I had a major breakthrough with Bella last night. You all know she is fearful. Well last night she was pacing by my chair while I was reading. This usually means, her reminder to do her nightly feeding well she had been fed, the water fountain was full treats had been given and long gone. So I took a chance by her body cues and put her in my lap. She allowed petting and after 45 mins cuddled on my chest and laid her head into my neck licking me. She than relaxed and laid down for a hour next to me. This is a major first for Bella. She usually wants to get down after 5 or 10 mins. Cannot lie this brought a tear to my eye.

Update September 22nd 2017:

Bella and Peanut playing. So cute!
