Archie’s Story…
Archie had been severely neglected, covered in mats and ticks…and when shelter staff shaved the long neglected fur from his body, they noticed horrible, painful abscesses all over. M.A.I.N. stepped in to rescue him off the euthanasia list and provide the medical care he so desperately needed.
At Bethany Animal Hospital, it was discovered Archie also had a grade three heart murmur, anemia, requiring a blood transfusion and kennel cough. Archie was placed on antibiotics for his wounds and breathing treatments for his cough and sent to a loving foster home to recuperate. After a few weeks at Don’s house, where Archie enjoyed being park of the pack and lounging around on the various doggy beds and couches, Archie developed pneumonia. He was stable on multiple breathing treatments a day, but his condition worsened suddenly and he was admitted to Bethany Animal Hospital…
Update, Oct. 26th: Friends, it is with heavy hearts we have to tell you that our precious Archie passed away last night….It’s a very sad day for all of us here at M.A.I.N. With all of the infections he had going on, the pneumonia was just too much for his little broken body to fight off. We want to thank everyone for the prayers & outpouring of support, especially our vets & staff at Bethany Animal Hospital for working around the clock to try & save Archie. Also, his original foster, Don, and the volunteers who spent time with him at the hospital. Although he was with us for such a short time, he knew much love and kindness in those days. We are so sorry Archie that we were not able to save you & that your former people failed you and allowed you to get in this horrific condition. R.I.P. little buddy. There is no more pain over the Rainbow Bridge…
Archie has been battling Bordetella (Kennel Cough) since he was rescued from the shelter, but over the past few days he seems to have gotten worse. Don brought Archie to see Dr. Melissa at Bethany Animal Hospital (10-19-2012), and chest x-rays show that this poor kid has pneumonia!
Such a good little boy, thank you for taking good care of him Don and staff at Bethany!
