Patience, Brussels Griffon Mix

DSC04311This little girl is our newest M.A.I.N. pup, and thanks to Barbara Bowers, she has a new name; Patience!

She was rescued from the West Shelter where Patience sat waiting, in what must have been severe pain.

As far as the veterinarians can tell, she has multiple pelvic fractures and a dislocated hip that will require Femoral Head Ostectomy. Amazingly, she can still walk with a tilted gait on the right side and a lameness on the left.  (Scroll down for more photos below.)

We are guessing that Patience was hit by a car, but she is affectionate and very sweet and we’re hoping for a full recovery.  As always, we’ll keep you updated on her progress – but, in the meantime, if you would like to suggest a name for this little girl and help with her medical bills – then thank you SO much!

Patience’s Updates:

Patience has officially been adopted by her foster mom! Congrats to Patience and her new fur-ever family!

Patience and her foster palUpdate from Patience’s foster mom, March 10th: She is doing well and is in love with her foster brother Chumley – follows him everywhere! She remains overly interested in the cats, especially Dino and Wahine, the black kitties, who tend to run away from her…not so much Newman, who has smacked her several times for getting fresh with him. Her pain seems reasonably well controlled on Tramadol, but unfortunately it is hard to get the pills INTO her, as she is a master at secreting them in her mouth and then spitting them out as soon as I turn away. My observation is that female dogs seem to be much cannier than males on the pill/medicine in the food front! Gibbs just gobbled down pills, but she carefully sniffs everything and if there’s a pill in the middle of it, or ground up in it, or even in my hand, she won’t take food! Other than the pill power struggle and the attempts at cat chasing she is doing well…she is still limping but it doesn’t prevent her from getting around.

You Can Be Her Hero, AND Give Her a Name!

  1. I want to say Flame- since she has those orange like highlights. But @ the same time I want to say Gizmo or something that goes w/ an Ewalk (sp) since she reminds me of one. Last idea- Lucy.

  2. What about Pepper, or Vanilla Bean. I know that the names might be goofy but she sure is a cutie.

  3. Penny, all of Patience’s updates are on our website and the link is in the description above. Thanks for watching!
