Iris' xraysMeet Iris.

Iris is a two year old terrier mix that was brought in to the shelter by a local fire department who found her injured on the road. We believe Iris was hit by a car; she had extreme pain and redness/bruising to her back end. Iris was obviously not adoptable in this condition and needed a rescue outlet to make it out of the shelter alive…

M.A.I.N. stepped up for this beautiful dog and took her immediately to our partner vet. You can see on the Xrays that Iris has multiple severe pelvic fractures and her tail is fractured at the base. Unfortunately Iris’ tail will need to be amputated, but she is very fortunate that she was not paralyzed with these severe injuries.

Iris is currently recovering in a foster home- she is on crate rest and pain medication for now. We will work closely with our partner vet to make sure Iris gets better. Please, if you are able, donate to Iris’ medical care chip in fund via PayPal below. Thank You!

Update on Iris, Feb 1st 2015: Iris had her recheck appointment with Dr Afeck yesterday and she is healing well. She still needs to be crated. The great news is she can be spayed after Valentine’s Day and then we will do another xray.
