Harry’s Story:

Harry looks like any other puppy, but looks can be deceiving.  Harry has what’s referred to as a Diaphragmatic Hernia.

A diaphragmatic hernia occurs in dogs when the sheet of muscle that separates the chest cavity from the abdomen is either torn or incomplete, and this allows Harry’s intestines to live in his chest cavity.  There is not enough room for fully developed lungs to function, so he has a lot of trouble breathing. This can occur because of an acquired injury from a forceful blow, such as a car accident, or because of a birth defect, and at this point we have no way of knowing what the cause was. He needs surgery to survive, but he also needs to be a bit stronger before that can happen. So, Harry waits – while he fights just to breathe.

Medical Update: Friends, it is with a heavy heart that we tell you Harry passed during surgery for his diaphragmatic hernia. His injuries were too severe, there was nothing the vets could do. We are grateful that Harry knew love and peace his last few days here on earth. Rest in Peace, Harry…
