Gage after rescueMeet Gage.

Gage was an emergency rescue from the county west shelter when we received a call that said he was in need of an immediate outlet.

Gage had been witnessed being hit by a car and was brought into the shelter with obvious injuries. Xrays at the shelter confirm Gage has a fractured pelvis. This poor little guy is only about 15 pounds, most of it matted and dirty fur.

In addition, Gage has a huge raw area on his hind end from a ruptured anal gland. With this abscess and the pelvic fractures, we know this little dog must be feeling miserable.

A huge thank you to Gage’s foster mom and transporters who immediately stepped up to transport him from the county shelter to safety. He will be seeing our partner vet (and getting a good grooming) asap and we will keep everyone updated on his progress.

Please, if you are able, donate to Gage’s medical care chip-in fund via PayPal below. The dogs only have us, and we only have you! Thank You!

 Gage’s Updates:

We are so saddened to report that Gage was helped to cross the rainbow bridge…rest in peace, Gage.

Update Sept. 20th: We have a very sad update to share today. We said goodbye to Gage last night. His health declined over the last week as he battled pneumonia and progressive neurological issues. It is suspected that he had distemper. All of us thank his foster, Helen, who gave him a loving home and incredible care. Rest in peace, Gage and run free at the rainbow bridge…

From Gage’s foster mom, Aug. 2014: When I ask for a kiss he attacks me with kisses! This is one awesome dog. We just got to get him feeling better! He started to be in pain, but gave him his meds and an hour later he seems tremendously better! Gage is a awesome pup! He loves scratches and snuggles. He’s not too steady on his feet, but he’s resting in his crate now.

  1. I love what the angels do here for these lovely pets and so sad they must endure the bad to get to the forever home. If I had a lot animals and children would get it all. I have two rescues and would love more but finances will not allow that. I give a prayer and hope for the spay neuter clinics to unfold and prevent this. I cry every time I see this. I took a chance with a pit bull, not one regret, unfolding love and devoted.
