Meet Blossom.

Blossom is approximately one year old and just five tiny pounds. When she was first brought into the county pound, Blossom was unable to stand or walk.

Upon xrays at county, it was discovered that this poor girl has multiple fractures all over:

“No visible shoulder/limb abnormalities. Pelvis has acetabular fractures through both acetabula however, left is significantly displaced. Left ischium has mid body fracture and right illium appears broken.”

This poor pup is very shy and we are unsure of how she got in this terrible condition.

You’ll see from the video that Blossom seemed to have only one working leg, however no matter where we touched her little broken body, she showed no pain.

But WE felt pain- in our hearts, for what this dog must have been through.

That’s all behind Blossom now though; her new life has begun with M.A.I.N. We will get this sweet girl the vet care she so needs while she recovers in a loving foster home.

Blossom’s Updates:

It’s official! Blossom’s foster mom has adopted her! Congrats to Blossom and her new fur-ever mom!

Medical Update on Blossom, Oct. 26th from Dr. Katie: “Normally in an FHO I would remove the head of the femur (red) and the neck (blue) in one piece (see picture). However, because Blossom has incorporated her femoral head in her healing pelvic fracture, I’m not going to undo that! She will need physical therapy to continue her progress.”

Medical Update on Blossom, July 26th: Blossom is ready to schedule her FHO surgery. The front right radial nerve paralysis is unchanged and she has some slight redness to her skin from rubbing the top of her foot on the ground. She really needs a good splint to help support the leg too.

Update from Blossom’s foster mom, July 14th: I love her very much and look forward to the day she can run free and play like a puppy should. She is in great spirits and enjoying going to the park and getting some fresh air with her foster family. I give her pain medication daily even though she acts like she is in no pain. I carry her around in the sling and she snuggles close to my tummy. She seems content in there, but when things get noisy, her spunky personality comes out! She definitely is starting to come out of her shell and has no problems meeting everyone. She loves people and other animals!

Update on Blossom, July 10th: After spending the day at the vet the X-rays have determined she will need surgery to repair her pelvis.

From Blossom’s foster mom, July 6th: Blossom is currently sleeping in my lap. I gave her pain medications earlier. Blossom is striving and already blooming! Shes Amazing! We are learning what a great journey we both are on. 🙂
