Dusty, Pit Bull Terrier Mix

Meet Dusty.

Under normal circumstances, this adorable young pup would be adopted right away…but life hasn’t been “normal” thus far for Dusty.

Dusty was scheduled to be euthanized at the county pound because of large swelling on his leg and a medical issue with his eye that caused it to be red and difficult to open.

While we aren’t 100% sure what his exact medical needs are at this time, we know Dusty is SAFE.

Because of the support of all of YOU, a caring foster home and vet treatment, Dusty has the chance to heal and live the life every dog deserves. As always, we will keep everyone updated on his medical diagnosis and progress.

Please share Dusty’s pictures and story and if able, donate to his medical chip-in fund by clicking the PayPal link at the bottom of the page. Thank you!

Medical Update, June 5th from Dr. Miller: Poor pup! His leg is a big mess, really looks like a Valley Fever lesion. Blood work sure looks like Valley Fever so far, so we’ll send him to foster with Fluconazole. We’ll need to sedate him to get some decent skull xrays in the next week.

Dusty’s Updates:

Dusty has officially been adopted by his foster mom! We can’t think of a better home for him. Congrats to all!

Dusty FavoriteDusty’s Petfinder bio: Hello, hello! I’m DUSTY, an adora-bull, loveable Pitbull mix looking for a family I can call my very own. I’m sure you can tell what a fun and cute guy I am from my pictures, but what you don’t know is I have quite the story to tell. A few months ago, I was rescued from the county pound; I was sick and scheduled to be euthanized. Lucky for me, M.A.I.N. got me the vet care I needed. I was diagnosed with Valley Fever and will require a daily pill for this, but am otherwise 100% healthy and ready for my fur-ever home! My new family will have to continue with my treatment, but I just know once you meet me, you’ll realize I’m worth it!
Enough of all that sad stuff though. Dusty is my name and having FUN is my game! There are SO many things we can do together! I really like going on walks and am learning leash manners. Foster mom says I’m very smart and I love to learn. I already know “sit” and “down” and am working on “stay.” See what a smart boy I am?! I hope you have lots of toys at your house because I love to play. I’m great at tug of war! I really enjoy the company of other dogs and would love to go to the dog park or have a doggy sibling in my new home. I currently live with three dogs in my foster home and we get along great. I love to go on car rides, so it will be easy to take me on trips. Maybe we could go to the lake?! I recently learned to swim and I think it’s so fun to chase the waves! You might have noticed I say I love a lot of things…I told you, I’m a FUN puppy!
You should know I have a sweet side too. I get along with everyone I meet, kids included! I’m a real cuddle-bug and sure to be your new best friend! Well, now that I’ve told you all about myself, I bet you can’t wait to meet me. I sure can’t wait to meet YOU! Set up a meet and greet with me today! I am approximately nine months old and my adoption fee is $175. I am neutered, up to date on Bordetella, DHPP and Rabies AND come with my county license!

DustyMedical Update on Dusty, July 16th: Earlier this month, Dusty’s Valley Fever test came back positive, after an initial negative result the first time he was tested shortly after intake. His titer levels are low at 1:4, so ideally we want the levels to stay there or decrease even more. The cytology report of the bump above his eye shows mixed inflammation, likely due to the Valley Fever. Dusty has no idea about his condition though; he’s just enjoying being a puppy, playing with his foster siblings and taking long naps!
