Chantilly- what a face!Meet Chantilly.

We know these pictures are hard to look at…but please, don’t turn away.

We know you see this pup’s face, covered in scabs and bleeding. We know you see her swollen paws that she uses to itch the mites burrowed into her skin. We know you see a tiny puppy’s soulful eyes and wonder “HOW did she get in this condition?!”

We know how you feel- we feel the same way…

But look again. Do you see the face of a survivor? Did you notice the wagging tail of a dog grateful to finally be in loving arms? Can you see the trust Chantilly so easily bestows upon her rescuers?

Chantilly knows it’s all going to be okay now. We don’t know the life of this four month old pup before she was found as a stray, but we DO know she is safe in loving arms now. That’s the message we take away from these pictures and we hope you will too.

A special thank you to Apache Junction Animal Control who cared for Chantilly before M.A.I.N’s rescue! Please, if you are able, donate to Chantilly’s medical care chip-in fund via PayPal by clicking the link below. Thank You!

Chantilly’s Updates:

Chantilly has been adopted! Congrats to Chantilly and her fur-ever home!

Chantilly3Update April 14th: Chantilly ended up losing some hair after our last vet appt. I’m assuming that’s because her Ivermectin dose was too small the last go around because she had gained weight. She is scheduled for her last set of shots and her spay April 24th as well as a skin scrape which I hope is negative. She is a silly girl and loves to run all over! Pure puppy! She is totally housebroken now (yay!) and doggy door trained. We are working on leash training and basic commands. We do love her tons and are grateful for such a wonderful gal!

Update, March 22nd: At Chantilly’s vet check today she still had lots of live mites- they think it’s because she was still on the dosage of meds for a 12 lb dog and she is 23 1/2 lbs now. On a positive note she is no longer a skinny minny and she has hair! One more set of shots and then she can at least meet some peeps and get some socializing in.

Update Feb. 24th: Chantilly is growing TONS of hair! The sides of her body used to be just skin and now it is covered with black hair and under under her chin is covered in white hair. The transformation is amazing! Her cuteness makes up for her naughtiness! We call her the “hoarder” as she hoards anything that she can carry into her kennel. She doesn’t chew on it….she just stockpiles it! It’s funny! She is doing a lot better potty wise- making it through the “magic portal” to go outside. A few accidents here and there, but progress!Chantilly is also gaining weight- she started at 12 pounds and is now 21 pounds!

Update, Feb. 18th: Chantilly is doing much better and even starting to grow some fur on her face! All of her tests from her last vet visit came back negative.

Chantilly, April 19thUpdate, Feb. 11th: Chantilly had an unexpected vet visit today. She was unable to stand up this morning without crying in pain. An X-ray of her back, hips, and legs came back normal. The hospital did blood work due to a concern about Valley Fever- we will know the results in three days. For now, she’s on pain meds and antibiotics and is already up and playing tonight! She’s also gained three pounds since her rescue and her skin is already looking so much better!

Update from Chantilly’s foster family, Feb. 3rd: Poor girl has open sores everywhere. I put a t-shirt on to help with her scratching. She had her vet appointment today and we got her shampoo and more meds. She will have another check up in a month. She is starting to break out of her shell. She got in the pounce position ready to play earlier- it was funny! She was barking at a pug at the vet too, funny girl. She is all curled up in my lap now.

  1. Thank you Amanda! Be sure to check Chantilly’s page for updates on her progress from her foster home. 🙂

  2. Thank you for the donation, Sandra! When a dog is medically cleared and available for adoption, they are moved to the “we are available” tab. Be sure to check our FB page and website for updates on her progress! At this point, there is no way to tell Chantilly’s size when she is full grown, but we will have a current weight when she is available for adoption. A full recovery (ie two negative Mange scrapes) from a case this severe can often take several months for medical clearance. 🙂

  3. Thank you for the donation Marie! Be sure to check our FB and website for updates on Chantilly’s progress from her foster family. 🙂
