Buffy met her new furever family this weekend!

Buffy’s foster mom, Mitzi brought this sweet pup to meet a wonderful family this weekend, and it isn’t too surprising that they decided to adopt her.  We caught it all on video for you, so click above and watch the love!

This little girl came in to the shelter with an entire litter of pups, but she was different than the others…

The size and shape of her head indicated a medical issue and therefore she wasn’t adoptable. M.A.I.N. stepped in to rescue her and we will have her evaluated at Bethany Animal Hospital to determine the best course of treatment from there. As always, we will keep everyone posted!

Update from Dr. Katie, Oct. 20th: Buffy is approximately six weeks old. She has visual issues- her depth perception and ability to track are poor. I think this is a result of her eye placement and will hopefully improve with age. I also don’t think she is hydrocephalic. The open fontanelle is quite small and I suspect, just a birth defect.

Buffy’s Updates:

Buffy has been adopted! Congrats to Buffy and her fur-ever family!

Buffy & friendA note from Buffy’s foster mom, Jan. 13th: She loves children! At the dog park Saturday there were two girls, aged two and five. Buffy was very gentle with them and didn’t try to gnaw on their fingers like she does with me. She was very tolerant of them patting her all over and wanting to play. When a friend dog-sat Buffy for me, three neighbor children, aged 10-12 years, ran over and wanted to meet Buffy. She gave them all kisses and gently played with them.
She doesn’t do great with dogs smaller than she, not at all aggressive, she just doesn’t know her own strength. Her best buds at my house are two 60-lb. Pitbulls.
Her energy level is fairly mellow for a pup her age, she’d much rather tussle with another dog or play fetch/keep-away, than run around the yard or house like a crazy woman. She doesn’t do ‘zoomies’ like some pups. She’s still a pretty klutzy puppy. She had a big growth spurt and is getting used to her taller legs.
At the end of the day she is a major snuggler! She gives very sweet kisses and loves to fall asleep spooning with me, or with one of her Pitbull boyfriends.
She hasn’t met a person or dog yet that she doesn’t like!

Listen to her little snores as Kate rubs her belly…

Buffy, Jan. 13th!Update, Dec. 9th: Buffy is 14 weeks old and 14 pounds! I think she will be Beagle sized, at 27-30 pounds.

Update from Buffy’s foster mom, Nov. 8th: In three short weeks she has doubled her weight (she’s at 6.25 lbs.) and I think her height too! The area on top of her head has completely closed (hurray!) and she is a healthy, happy girl!

From Buffy’s foster mom, Oct. 22nd: I love this girl so much! She runs, plays, eats, poops just like any normal puppy. Her eyesight doesn’t seem as impaired as initially feared. She is able to follow me around with no problem and doesn’t run into things. Her only issue is her neck muscles keeping up with that big ol’ noggin.
